A 29-year-old New Castle man is behind bars after police say he broke into an 80-year-old woman’s home and tried to sexually assault her.
Davonso Davis was arrested after officers responded around 2:40 a.m. on October 11 to the unit block of Arbor Avenue in the Overview Gardens community, where they located a man matching the suspect’s description.
Detectives also learned of a prior sexual-harassment allegation against Davis involving a family member of the victim, and connected him to a September 24 attempted burglary involving a 70-year-old woman on the same block.
Davis was charged with first-degree burglary, attempted second-degree rape without consent, attempted first-degree burglary, sexual harassment, second-degree criminal trespass, and criminal mischief under $1,000. The burglary and attempted-rape charges are felonies. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $100,300 cash bail.
