81-Year-Old Delaware Man Tied to Chair, Robbed in Elkton Home After Facebook Meetup

An 81-year-old Delaware man was tied to a chair, cut with a knife, and robbed inside a home in Elkton, Maryland, on Wednesday morning after going there to meet a woman he had connected with on Facebook, according to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, to the unit block of Chestnut Drive after several people reported a man lying outside a home. They found the 81-year-old with visible injuries to his head.

The man told deputies he had gone to the home that morning to meet Taylor Storm Falcone, 31, a woman he had met on Facebook a few weeks earlier. Austin Michael Maniscalco, 28, was also there. Investigators say Maniscalco tied the man to a chair, removed his clothing, and cut him several times with a knife. He also struck him with a gun, poured hot syrup on him, and shot him with a BB gun, leaving him with a bloody nose and bruises. Maniscalco took the combination to the victim’s safe from his pocket, along with $80 in cash, a gold chain, a gold Seiko watch, a gold bracelet, and the keys to three vehicles — a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2026 GMC Sierra, and a 2016 Cadillac Escalade. Falcone left the home during the assault.

Maniscalco then fell asleep, and the victim freed himself and got out. Deputies called in the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team because Maniscalco was believed to still be inside and possibly armed. A search turned up the stolen property, and Falcone was arrested when she later returned. The victim was treated at Christiana Care hospital and released.

Maniscalco faces 10 charges, including robbery, first-degree assault, theft of $1,500 to $25,000, reckless endangerment, and false imprisonment. Falcone faces four charges, including conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. Both are being held without bond at the Cecil County Correctional Facility.
