Safe Combination Written on Victim’s Forehead in Elkton Torture-Robbery, Sheriff Says

New details have emerged in the torture and robbery of an 81-year-old Delaware man inside a home in Elkton, Maryland — including that a suspect used a marker to write the combination to the victim’s home safe on the man’s forehead.
According to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, the victim traveled to a home on the unit block of Chestnut Drive on Wednesday morning, November 4, to meet 31-year-old Taylor Falcone. Once inside, he was confronted by 28-year-old Michael Maniscalco, who tied him to a chair and refused to let him leave.
Investigators say Maniscalco punched the man, held a knife to his throat, and poured hot syrup over his body, leaving burns — all to force him to reveal the combination to a safe at his Delaware home. Maniscalco also took about $80 in cash, a gold chain, a gold Seiko watch, a gold bracelet, and the keys to three vehicles, including a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2026 GMC Sierra, and a 2016 Cadillac Escalade.
Falcone left the home during the assault, authorities say. The victim freed himself after Maniscalco fell asleep and escaped. Deputies found him naked and injured in the front yard around 8:30 a.m. After a brief standoff, Maniscalco was taken into custody, and the stolen items were recovered.
Maniscalco faces 10 charges, including robbery and first-degree assault. Falcone faces four charges, including conspiracy to commit robbery. Both are being held without bond at the Cecil County Correctional Facility. The victim was treated at Christiana Care hospital and released.
