Joe Budden Goes Off on Elliott Wilson: “It’s Almost Time for Intervention” Over DJ Vlad Fallout
Written by Kiss Media on 18 October 2026
The hip-hop media world is going through it this weekend, and Joe Budden is making sure everybody hears his side loud and clear.
On the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Joe unloaded on longtime hip-hop journalist Elliott Wilson over the messy collapse of Wilson’s planned partnership with DJ Vlad. The two media veterans were supposed to team up for new projects following an interview with producer Hit-Boy, but things fell apart fast — reportedly over business disagreements, budget disputes, and bruised egos.
Budden didn’t hold back. While he said both sides mishandled the situation, most of his smoke was aimed squarely at Wilson. “It’s almost time for intervention [for Elliott Wilson],” Joe said. “I think Elliott is really sullying his name… El is legacy. But in this new-age content world, I think Elliott has done a lot and is doing a lot that ain’t coming off right.”
Joe then ran down a list of past grievances, calling out Wilson over the Jeremy Hecht podcast situation, his dealings with DJ Hed, and an unresolved situation involving a figure named SaVon that Budden says still hasn’t been answered for. “Elliott’s probably got one more pass out of me,” Joe warned, telling his old friend that the game has changed too many times in front of him for him to keep making the same moves. “Now you out here floundering, making decisions from what seems like a state of desperation… El is my man. But I take offense that you did that slimy [stuff] to SaVon and ain’t say a word to me.”
Wilson may have already responded. On Saturday, he posted a pointed message on X quoting 50 Cent: “These industry n***as ain’t friends. They know how to pretend.”
This is just the latest chapter in hip-hop’s ongoing media wars, with podcasters and journalists increasingly settling business in public. You can catch the full breakdown from Joe and the crew in the clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ6ijbfr1GY
