Lil Wayne Postpones Charleston Concert Just Hours Before Showtime — Fans Left Waiting Again

Lil Wayne fans in West Virginia got some crushing news Friday night — the “20 Years Of Carter Classics” tour stop in Charleston was postponed just three hours before showtime.

The Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center announced at 5:30 PM that the concert would not go on as planned, citing “inclement weather and travel delays.” Doors were scheduled for 7 PM, with Weezy set to hit the stage at 8:30. The venue’s statement promised that all previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date, with updates coming to ticketholders by email — but no new date has been announced yet, and the announcement offered no specifics about the weather or travel issues involved.

This is the latest bump in the road for Wayne’s Carter anniversary trek, which features 2 Chainz as special guest. The tour was already under a microscope after a controversial stop in Maine, where fans waited two hours after 2 Chainz’s opening set only to learn Wayne wouldn’t perform at all. To his credit, Weezy returned about a month later for a make-up show — and Charleston fans will be hoping history repeats itself here.

The good news: the tour rolls on. The next stop is tonight in San Antonio, Texas at the Frost Bank Center, followed by dates on October 22, 23, and 29 in Kentucky, Tennessee, and New Mexico. As of now, there’s no word that any other dates are affected.

Wayne’s team hasn’t personally addressed the Charleston postponement yet, but with a fan base as loyal as the Carter faithful, you can bet they’ll be watching closely for that new date.

While we wait, run back one of the greatest to ever do it — “A Milli” still goes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vf4mMCpNY0
