Cardi B Finally Takes Over NPR’s Tiny Desk — and Swaps Latto’s Name for Kelly Rowland on “ErrTime”

It’s been a long time coming, Delaware — Cardi B has officially checked “Tiny Desk Concert” off the bucket list, and she did it in pure Bardi fashion.

The Bronx superstar’s Tiny Desk debut premiered Monday, October 19, at noon ET on NPR Music’s YouTube channel, and within minutes the internet was buzzing. Backed by a full live band led by music director Adam Blackstone (yes, the same man behind Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show), Cardi ran through an eight-song set that touched every era of her career: “Hello,” “ErrTime,” “Man of Your Word,” “Be Careful,” “Up,” “AH HA,” “Bodak Yellow,” and “I Like It.”

The band was no joke — DJ Ray G, keys, guitar, drums, sax, trumpet, and two background vocalists gave her biggest hits a stripped-down, live-instrument glow. And true to form, Cardi couldn’t resist switching a few lyrics up.

The headline moment came on “ErrTime,” where she replaced her Latto shout-out — “Bad yellow bitch, she look like Latto” — with a nod to Kelly Rowland instead: “Bad brown bitch, she look like Kelly in this muthaf**ka.” The change lands against the backdrop of Cardi and Latto’s very public falling out in 2025, after leaked audio captured Cardi referring to Latto’s nonconfrontational history during a heated phone call with Ice Spice’s manager. Cardi publicly apologized, but Latto never quite moved past it, addressing the situation on her 2026 album Big Mama with the track “Gimmie Dat.”

Cardi also took aim at her exes on “Be Careful,” swapping the original “And karma for you gon’ be who you end up with!” for a sharper “And karma for you? Well, you see it!” — a jab fans immediately connected to her 2024 split from Offset and her February 2026 breakup with NFL star Stefon Diggs after roughly a year together.

Per TMZ’s coverage of the set, one of the night’s biggest moments was her performance of “I Like It,” which had the whole NPR office moving. And Cardi’s personality carried the show between songs — she joked about being promised crab cakes and getting celery sticks and carrots instead, complained about sweating in latex, and ended the night beaming with gratitude, handing out hugs to lucky audience members.

The performance caps a massive run for Bardi. Her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I The Drama?, dropped September 19, 2025, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — seven years after her debut, Invasion of Privacy, made her the first solo woman to win the Grammy for Best Rap Album. She also just dropped a new single, “Don’t Chart,” on October 8 as part of GTAVI: The Album.
