Feds to Pooh Shiesty: Your Jail Cell Has Netflix, the NFL Channel and 12,000 Emails — That’s Not “Inhumane”

Written by on 22 October 2026

Pooh Shiesty’s legal team is painting a bleak picture of life behind bars — locked down 23 hours a day, no contact with anyone but staff, conditions they describe as flat-out “inhumane.” But federal prosecutors aren’t buying it. In a new court filing, they’re bringing the receipts: a tablet loaded with Netflix, the NFL Channel and games, thousands of emails, and hundreds of hours of video calls.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, prosecutors say the Memphis rapper has sent or received a staggering 12,342 emails and logged 231 video visits — roughly 45 hours of conversation — since July 1. His tablet activity log alone runs about 500 pages, with roughly 30 entries per page. The government’s message, in short: “It can hardly be said that these conditions of confinement are inhumane.”

The feds argue the isolation isn’t punishment — it’s protection. Prosecutors say three inmates previously tried to break into Shiesty’s housing area, supposedly just to grab his autograph, and point to what they call a history of disrupting jail operations, including corrupting monitors at a halfway house. They also claim the rapper recently admitted during a court hearing that he had been using fentanyl.

Pooh Shiesty is asking a judge to move him back into the general jail population and double his in-person visitation time from two hours a month to four. Prosecutors want the emergency request denied, noting he receives the same visitation privileges as other federal detainees — and adding that nobody appears to have visited him in person since August 27.

His attorney pushed back, calling the lockdown too harsh for someone who hasn’t been convicted: “He is locked down 23 hours per day and has no contact with anyone other than staff,” the lawyer said. “If by some stretch of the imagination it’s true, then they need to take a close look at their staff and their ability to run a jail.”

As TMZ reported, Pooh Shiesty pleaded not guilty to federal charges stemming from an alleged kidnapping and robbery involving Gucci Mane at a Dallas recording studio, and he remains behind bars awaiting trial.

While the courtroom fight plays out, the music keeps living on — his All Eyes On Shiest era gave us the official video for “Reap What You Sow,” which you can run back right here.
