Wilmington Man Charged in Smyrna Bar Parking Lot Shooting That Wounded Two

A 25-year-old Wilmington man is facing a long list of gun and assault charges in connection with an October shooting outside a Smyrna bar that left two people wounded.

Smyrna police say the shooting happened on October 10 in the parking lot of the End Zone Bar and Grill in the Gateway North Shopping Center. Two people were struck by gunfire and were listed in stable condition, and investigators recovered more than 30 spent shell casings at the scene.

Detectives arrested the suspect in Newark with help from the New Castle County Police SWAT team. A separate search warrant executed by a Wilmington Police SWAT team in Wilmington turned up evidence tied to the shootings, police said.

The man was first committed to the Department of Corrections on $364,000 cash bail. Detectives later filed additional charges, adding another $184,000 to his bail.

The charges include two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, six counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, receiving a stolen firearm, two counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, seven counts of first-degree reckless endangering, aggravated menacing, and three counts of criminal mischief.

Police have not released the suspect’s name. A Delaware law that took effect October 21 generally limits when police can publicly identify arrested suspects.
