A 30-year-old Wilmington woman was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of West Basin Road and Washington Avenue in the New Castle area, Delaware State Police say.
The crash happened at about 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28. Investigators say the woman was driving a Hyundai Elantra southbound in the left-turn lane when it entered the intersection at the same time as a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe. The front of the Tahoe struck the passenger side of the Hyundai, sending it into a traffic signal pole. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family.
The Tahoe driver, a 21-year-old man from New Castle, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The road was closed for about four hours while troopers investigated. No charges have been announced, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
