Delaware Elections Officials Issue Voting Alert Ahead of Tuesday’s General Election

Written by on 31 October 2026

Delaware election officials are reminding voters that time is running short to cast a ballot early in the 2026 general election, with early voting wrapping up Sunday, November 1.

More than 98,000 Delawareans had already voted early as of late Thursday, according to the Department of Elections, along with about 18,000 absentee ballots. Sussex County leads the early turnout with more than 48,000 votes, followed by New Castle County with about 35,000 and Kent County with roughly 15,000.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Officials note that voters heading out on Election Day must vote at their assigned polling place for their election district, which can be confirmed through the state’s voter portal at https://ivote.de.gov/VoterView. Any Delaware resident who registered by the October 10 deadline may vote in the general election regardless of party affiliation.

Voters should also bring identification to check in, as required under Delaware law — a Delaware driver’s license or state ID, a Department of Elections polling place card or voter information mailer, or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document showing name and address all qualify. Anyone who arrives without an ID can still vote after completing an Affidavit of Affirmation of Voter Identity, once their registration is verified.
