Ye Brings Yeezy Back to the Runway — Family, Old Friends and New Music at the Season 01 Show

After more than four years away from the runway, Ye brought Yeezy back in a big way on Wednesday night — and he made it a family affair.

The Yeezy Season 01 show went down at Droam 1, the brand’s new flagship at 4317 Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles, with Ye front and center in an all-black leather look and a massive gold belt buckle. His wife Bianca Censori turned heads in a plunging outfit, and daughter North West stood out with bright turquoise hair. Then came the moment everybody is still talking about: Ye posing for a rare family photo with all four of his children — North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm — whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

The guest list was just as stacked as the runway. Kid Cudi, Big Sean and 2 Chainz linked up for photos, alongside Natalie Nunn, the Clermont Twins, Jerry Lorenzo and more. Models walked pared-back, monochromatic looks around a large white hill that served as the show’s centerpiece, while Ye previewed several new songs throughout the night, including a cut reportedly titled “Out of My Mind.” The show was even streamed live on Kick by N3on, so fans at home got a front-row seat too.

For Cudi, the night meant even more than fashion. The two have spent years working through a very public fallout — last year Cudi said he was done with Kanye, accusing him of breaking his trust and making unforgivable remarks about their late friend Virgil Abloh. They have since repaired the friendship, and Cudi revealed in July that they were back in touch. Standing outside the show, he could not stop praising his old collaborator.

“Oh, everything,” Cudi said when asked about his favorite part of the night. “It was just beautiful to see my big bro come up there and do his thing,” he added, calling the collection “really clear, thoughtful vision.”

The show marks a pivotal moment for the Yeezy brand. The last major Yeezy fashion show was Season 9 in Paris in October 2022, and while Ye did stage a much lower-profile Season 10 show in Los Angeles the following year, this was the real return. After spending years largely absent from traditional retail following the split from Adidas in 2022, the brand made its way back through JD Stores with the release of its Yeezy Slides over the summer — and now the runway is back too.

If Wednesday night was any indication, Ye is not easing back in. He is going all the way in — with his family beside him, his old friends back in his corner, and new music already in the air.
