Feds Say Lil Durk Hid an Apple Watch in His Body Cavity to Make Hundreds of Jail Calls

Lil Durk’s fight for freedom just took a wild and messy turn, with federal prosecutors now accusing the Chicago rapper of smuggling an Apple Watch into his jail cell — by hiding it in his body cavity.
The allegations surfaced Wednesday during Durk’s latest bond hearing in Los Angeles. Prosecutors filed their official response to his bond request and once again opposed his release, arguing that he remains both a flight risk and a potential threat to the community. They noted he has already been denied bond four times, and they say his behavior behind bars is only making their case stronger.
According to prosecutors, Durk is under investigation for allegedly “facilitating the introduction of contraband” at the Los Angeles Metropolitan Detention Center. Inside the courtroom, the claims got even more specific: the government alleged that Durk managed to obtain an Apple Watch, conceal it in a body cavity, and use the device to make hundreds of phone calls. Los Angeles Magazine reporter Taylor Parise, who has been following the hearing, reported the claims as they unfolded.
That was not the only accusation on the table. Prosecutors also accused Durk of insubordination and “talking back” to prison guards, and they pointed to the repeated searches of his cell — reportedly numerous times a week — as evidence that the facility is taking the contraband concerns seriously. The investigation is ongoing, and new charges could still be introduced.
Durk’s legal team pushed back hard. His attorneys presented an expanded bond proposal that would put up his mother’s home as collateral, along with the rapper’s royalties, publishing rights, name, image and likeness and touring revenue. They also pointed to his recent acquittal in a separate murder-for-hire case, arguing that the favorable outcome gives him no reason to run.
After hearing arguments from both sides, U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald opted to hold off on a decision Wednesday. The judge is expected to announce his ruling on Thursday, leaving Durk — and his fans — waiting one more day for an answer that could shape the rest of his case.
The hearing comes at a tense moment for the rapper. He was placed in solitary confinement earlier this week, and his father spoke out this week accusing jail officials of deliberately harassing him. Now, with the government stacking new allegations on top of its opposition to bond, the road to release looks steeper than ever.
This is a developing story, and we will keep you posted as soon as Judge Fitzgerald rules.
