## Alpha Phi Alpha’s Zeta Rho Lambda Chapter Marks 70 Years with a Platinum Anniversary Celebration in Dover

Seventy years of brotherhood, service, and legacy deserve a platinum celebration. **The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Rho Lambda Chapter, host their Platinum Anniversary on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM at the Delaware State Troopers Association, 6349 N Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE 19904.**

The formal evening honors the chapter’s 13 charter members and the generations of brothers who carried their vision forward since the chapter’s 1956 charter. Guests will enjoy a homestyle soul food buffet from Tomeka’s Homestyle Eatery, with a full bar provided by the venue. Best Kept Soul Band will perform four hours of live music, along with their DJ, keeping the dance floor full all night.

Tickets are $100 per person, and the evening marks the start of the chapter’s next era of mentorship, civic engagement, and community investment.

### HISTORY

Alpha Phi Alpha was founded in 1906 at Cornell University, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American men, and the first of the Divine Nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations. Its members have included Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Thurgood Marshall, and countless leaders in law, education, politics, and the arts. The Zeta Rho Lambda Chapter, the 249th House of Alpha, has carried that legacy in Dover since 1956, and its 70th anniversary celebrates seven decades of scholarship, service, and brotherhood in Delaware’s capital.

The night’s soundtrack comes from one of Delaware’s own institutions. Best Kept Soul, led by co-founder, lead guitarist, and music director Thomas “Lamont” McLean, has spent more than 35 years turning performances into experiences, from commanding the stage at the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival to headlining Juneteenth celebrations in Lewes, Delaware City, and Chestertown, Maryland. A Best of Delaware favorite band, the ensemble is a regular at The Reef and Docklands Riverfront, and four hours of their live soul and R&B is exactly the right sound for a 70th anniversary.
