Dover police have arrested an 18-year-old city resident after gunfire struck an occupied home late last month, authorities say.
Officers were called around 9:50 p.m. on Friday, October 30, to the 600 block of North New Street, where they found a home had been hit by gunfire and damaged. No one inside was hurt.
Investigators identified Jadan Barnes, 18, of Dover, as the suspect. Dover patrol officers arrested him the next day, October 31. Police say a firearm was recovered during the arrest, and a search warrant executed at a Dover home turned up additional firearms.
Barnes faces charges including first-degree reckless endangering, two counts of possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm in a school zone, and possession of a firearm with an altered or obliterated serial number. He was committed on $75,000 cash bail.
Anyone with information can contact the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7111 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
