Dallas Drummond, 47, of Dover has pleaded guilty to kidnapping and assaulting a woman he held captive in a Smyrna apartment — a case that ended when the victim fought back and escaped through a window. According to the Department of Justice, Drummond assaulted the woman on June 24, 2025 and held her captive inside the apartment. The victim fought back, freed herself, and climbed out a window, running to a neighbor’s home. The neighbor called 911. Smyrna Police led the investigation with assistance from Dover Police, Delaware State Police, and Delaware Probation and Parole. Drummond was arrested on July 1, 2025. On October 6, Drummond pleaded guilty to first-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault, strangulation, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person. Attorney General Kathy Jennings praised the victim’s courage, saying her efforts are the reason Drummond will not be able to hurt anyone else. Sentencing information was not announced.
