A Newark man is behind bars after New Castle County Police say a pedestrian stop turned into a drug and weapons bust Saturday evening in the Bear area.
Officers were patrolling the Christiana Falls community around 6:10 p.m. Saturday, October 17, when they spotted a man walking in the roadway of Opus Drive. Police identified the man as 39-year-old Bryant Goldsboro and attempted to contact him in marked patrol vehicles, but he ran. Officers pursued and caught him a short time later on Bryon Court.
Police say Goldsboro was carrying a loaded .380-caliber handgun that had been reported stolen in 2024, along with approximately 15 grams of powder cocaine, 5.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine, three MDMA pills, 47 grams of marijuana, and 20 OxyContin pills.
Goldsboro faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, and several counts of possession with intent to deliver. He was also charged with misdemeanor drug offenses, resisting arrest, and a pedestrian violation.
After arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 7, Goldsboro was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $109,350 cash bail.
