Wilmington Man Arrested After Months-Long Drug Probe; Thousands of Bags and Loaded Gun Seized

New Castle County Police have arrested a 29-year-old Wilmington man after a drug investigation that began in July.
Detectives with the department’s Drug and Human Trafficking Investigations Team executed two search warrants on Sunday, October 11. The first, in the 500 block of West 7th Street in New Castle, is where D’Andre Murphy was located and taken into custody; the second covered a location in the 100 block of North DuPont Street in Wilmington.
Investigators recovered approximately 3,100 bags of suspected heroin-fentanyl, 89 grams of crack cocaine, suspected drug paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun. Murphy is accused of distributing narcotics throughout New Castle County.
Murphy was charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (Tier 3), two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance (Tier 3), one felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one felony count of possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $128,000 cash bail.
