Dame Dash’s Life Rights Just Sold at Auction for Over $500K — and He Won’t See a Dime

The Roc-A-Fella story is officially for sale. In the middle of Dame Dash’s bankruptcy proceedings, the auction of his life rights has been completed — with a winning bid north of $550,000.
According to reports, Everlasting Films, LLC has claimed exclusivity to the worldwide rights to Dame’s life story. The package is substantial: 100 hours of video content, photographs, memorabilia, and the rights to an unreleased, in-development documentary/film project. A Florida court has served notice to the trustee overseeing Dame’s bankruptcy confirming the process is complete.
Here’s the kicker: Dame won’t pocket the money. The proceeds go directly to his creditors. If the Everlasting Films deal falls through, there’s a backup — another bidder, Doug Peters, also put up more than $500K.
The road here has been a long one. Back in August, bankruptcy trustee Traci K. Stevenson asked the court for permission to sell Dame’s life rights so the funds could go to creditors. Although Dame didn’t list his life rights as an asset when he filed, Stevenson argued they hold clear value “in light of the Debtor’s public profile and his historical association with Roc-A-Fella Records and Jay-Z.”
“The monetization of an individual’s name, image, and likeness has become a well-established and actively regulated commercial market,” Stevenson wrote, adding that a person’s name, image, likeness, persona, and life narrative are recognized as commercially valuable, transferable property.
It’s a stunning chapter for a man who helped build one of hip-hop’s most important labels. As co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records alongside Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke, Dame Dash was instrumental in the era that gave us Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, and The Black Album — a run that reshaped rap and business alike. Now, the story of that rise — and the fall — belongs to someone else.
