Felony Dropped: Rick Ross Now Faces Two Misdemeanors in Domestic Violence Case
Written by Kiss Media on 31 October 2026

Rick Ross just caught a major break in his domestic violence case — but the case is far from over.
Prosecutors have dropped the felony battery charge against the Maybach Music Group boss, according to court documents obtained by XXL on Friday. The felony count, battery by strangulation, was dismissed due to insufficient evidence, and Ross now faces two misdemeanor charges instead: one for battery and one for battery/domestic violence. TMZ reports the same dismissal, citing a lack of evidence behind the felony count.
The case stems from allegations by Ross’s ex-girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick. TMZ reports that Kendrick called police on September 29 and told them Ross had been violent with her during an incident on August 28. According to the police report, she claims Ross became enraged over a photo she was tagged in on social media and accused her of being in another relationship before things turned physical. She alleges he struck her multiple times, punched her in the chest several times, choked her, slammed her against a wall, and restricted her breathing by twisting the collar of her hoodie. Kendrick first made the allegations online the day before calling police.
Ross was arrested on October 1 after voluntarily turning himself in on the domestic violence charges. He pleaded not guilty in court later that day and was released on a $5,000 bond. Prosecutors had needed extra time to review the evidence before filing their charges, which pushed a planned hearing back a week.
Ross has denied all of the allegations from the start. After his release from jail, he hopped on Instagram to declare his innocence in no uncertain terms.
“OK, first and foremost, I am totally innocent of the fabricated allegations made against myself,” he said. “I repeat, I am totally innocent with these fabricated allegations made against myself. Now I have an amazing team and they’re such an amazing team and I am totally confident that these fabricated allegations will be laid to rest.”
Kendrick has not addressed the situation any further since the charges were filed. The case remains ongoing, and the two misdemeanor charges still carry real consequences if Ross is convicted — but the most serious count against him is now off the table.
While the legal process plays out, Ross has kept his focus on business as usual, recently explaining to fans why he no longer owns 25 Wingstop franchises and why he’d rather put his money into stocks. One thing is certain: the Biggest Boss is not going anywhere quietly.
