HISTORY: Now in its second year, Spotlight Delaware’s cultural festival has grown into one of the state’s most joyful fall traditions — and the 2026 edition expands the celebration under one roof at Arsht Hall. “Sankofa” comes from the Twi language of Ghana, teaching us to “go back and fetch it” — to reach back to our roots and recover the best of the past — a fitting name for the Sankofa African Drum and Dance Group, which carries African American cultural programming in Delaware through the Inner City Cultural League. Ballet Folklorico México Lindo, part of the Hispanic American Association of Delaware’s Arts and Culture Committee, performs dances from 10 Mexican states to preserve Mexican customs and traditions. Together with the Delaware Chinese American Association and a Heritage Fair spotlighting Delaware’s communities, it’s a day that proves the First State’s strength is its people.
