Two 16-year-old boys face felony charges after police say they tried to break into several vehicles in a Bear apartment complex early Monday morning.
New Castle County Division of Police officers responded around 1:05 a.m. on October 12 to the 300 block of Varsity Lane, in the parking lot of the School Bell Apartments, on a report of subjects attempting to break into vehicles. The suspects ran when officers arrived but were pursued and apprehended.
Police identified the suspects as two 16-year-old males — one from Wilmington and one from Bridgeville — and determined they attempted to enter at least five vehicles.
Both juveniles were transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and each charged with five felony counts of attempted third-degree burglary, one felony count of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, one felony count of second-degree conspiracy, five misdemeanor counts of attempted theft under $1,500, one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, and one loitering violation.
One teen was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to a detention center on $6,550 cash bail; the other was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on $10,500 unsecured bail.
