The Hip Hop Nutcracker Returns to D.C.’s National Theatre with MC Da Brat
Written by Kiss Media on 17 October 2026
A holiday tradition with a hip-hop twist is back. The Hip Hop Nutcracker returns to The National Theatre in Washington, D.C. for a six-day run, Tuesday, November 17 through Sunday, November 22, 2026.
Directed and choreographed by Tony and Olivier Award nominee Jennifer Weber, the contemporary dance spectacular remixes Tchaikovsky’s classic with all-star hip-hop dance — a dozen elite dancers, a DJ, a violinist and digital graffiti visuals retell the tale of Maria-Clara and the Nutcracker Prince. Hosting and MCing the show is the one and only Da Brat, the trailblazing Chicago-born rapper who made history as the first female solo rap artist to go platinum, with a career spanning music, television, radio and stage.
