HISTORY: Acute Inflections is vocalist Elasea Douglas and upright bassist Sadiki Pierre — a couple on and offstage — who have been performing together since 2013. Their sound fuses the elegance of Billie Holiday with the soulful spirit of Erykah Badu, stripped down to voice and bass. They’ve graced the stages of Birdland, Sony Hall, City Winery, the Cotton Club, and Jazz at Lincoln Center; released their debut EP The Brave (featuring their jazzy rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner”); wrote and performed an original song for The Great Soul Food Cook-Off on HBO Max and Amazon Prime; and have been featured on NPR. Their Soulful Sounds tour has now entertained more than 50,000 guests across the U.S. and abroad, and a portion of every show supports the Renaissance Youth Center, a South Bronx charity empowering youth through music education.
