Friday, December 11 | 8 PM | The Queen, 500 N Market St, Wilmington, DE
Save the date, Wilmington — Brooklyn’s finest lyricist Talib Kweli touches down at The Queen on Friday, December 11 at 8 PM.
THE ARTIST
Talib Kweli is one of the sharpest pens hip-hop has ever produced. He first made his name as one half of Black Star alongside Mos Def (Yasiin Bey) — their 1998 debut Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star on Rawkus Records is a landmark of conscious rap. He followed it with Reflection Eternal, his duo with producer Hi-Tek, before going solo with 2002’s Quality, home to the Kanye West-produced anthem “Get By” (built on Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman”), one of the defining songs of its era.
For nearly three decades, Kweli has carried the torch for lyric-driven, socially aware hip-hop — collaborating across generations while never dulling his message. Seeing him in the intimate setting of The Queen is a bucket-list night for any real hip-hop head.
Tickets are moving now, so lock yours in early — this one will sell out.
