The Hip Hop Nutcracker Dances Into State Theatre New Brunswick November 15

The Hip Hop Nutcracker brings its high-energy holiday spectacle to the State Theatre New Brunswick, 15 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ, on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 6:30 PM.

The production reimagines Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet through hip-hop culture. Directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber, the full-length show features a dozen all-star dancers, an on-stage DJ, and an electric violinist who turn the beloved score on its head, with hip-hop pioneer Kurtis Blow serving as MC.

Just like the classic story, Maria-Clara and the Nutcracker Prince go on a dream adventure, battling a gang of mice and visiting the land of sweets, retold with digital graffiti visuals and the sights and sounds of contemporary New York City. The 2026 national tour visits 20 cities this holiday season, kicking off November 14 in Purchase, New York.

Tickets are on sale now.
