A former Wilmington teacher has been convicted on all counts in a child rape case dating back more than 30 years, Delaware prosecutors announced. Christopher Crisona, 58, was found guilty on October 22 of charges including three counts of first-degree unlawful sexual intercourse, two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual contact, one count of third-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Prosecutors said the abuse took place between September 1994 and June 1995, while Crisona was teaching at St. Thomas the Apostle School in Wilmington. He later taught at other Wilmington-area diocesan schools before moving to Florida, where he worked in Orange County public schools and was arrested in March 2025.
The Delaware investigation began after an anonymous report to the Diocese of Wilmington in June 2022. Attorney General Kathy Jennings praised the victim’s courage in coming forward and thanked investigators, prosecutors, and social workers who worked the case.
Crisona faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 47 years in prison. A sentencing date had not been set as of the announcement. No police contact or tip-line information was listed in the source reports.
