Big30 Breaks Silence On Gucci Mane Kidnapping Case: “What They Said We Did, We Didn’t Do”

Big30 is speaking his truth — and he’s not backing down. In a brand-new sit-down on the “Perspektives with Bank” podcast that premiered Tuesday on YouTube, the Memphis rapper proclaimed his innocence in the alleged robbery and kidnapping of Gucci Mane, the federal case that has him, Pooh Shiesty, and several others staring down life in prison.

“I feel like it going to turn out good… we innocent. What they said we did, we didn’t do,” the 26-year-old told host Big Bank around the 54-minute mark. “That didn’t happen. I ain’t do that. Like, you can’t make me say that, you know what I’m saying? You going to have to prove to me I did that. Like, nah. Don’t give a f**k what they said or what you saw.”

He closed the thought with a clear message: “I feel good about my situation. You know what I’m saying? We all right. We good.”

The case is a heavy one. Big30, Pooh Shiesty, his father, and six other men are facing federal robbery and kidnapping charges. Prosecutors allege Pooh invited Gucci to a recording studio in Dallas on Jan. 10 and forced him to sign a contract release form at gunpoint before robbing him and the people he was with. In court documents filed in June, U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould confirmed Big30 — born Rodney Wright Jr. — recorded parts of the alleged incident on his cell phone on Pooh’s order. Screenshots from the video reportedly show codefendant Demarcus Glover holding an AK-style rifle next to Gucci, with Pooh Shiesty standing nearby.

Big30 and Pooh Shiesty’s father have both been released on bond — and that’s where the second storyline begins. The internet immediately started whispering that Big30 must have cooperated with the feds to get out. He says absolutely not.

“Man, my record was clean all the way up to, you know what I’m saying, right now,” he explained. “So, they couldn’t paint me as no menace of society or threat to the commercial or flight record. I don’t even got no passport.” His attorney took the case to a Dallas judge, who respected the Memphis magistrate’s original bond decision and let it stand. “And if you look at my flight record, I don’t fly much. I like to drive,” he added.

Big30 also put the blame on the blogs and social media pages, saying they make situations “look worse than it is” — pointing to Lil Durk’s case as an example of the narrative machine gone wrong. “Yeah, n***as be trying to be internet lawyers and police,” he said. “At least say, ‘I hope it go well for them’ or something like that, instead of bringing a Black man down.”

The trial is scheduled for next February. If convicted, Big30 and the others could face life behind bars. Watch his full conversation with Big Bank below:
