“For the Love of… Rapture” Brings Anita Baker’s Classic Album to Life in Baltimore Nov 14
Written by Kiss Media on 17 October 2026
Baltimore is celebrating one of the greatest R&B albums ever made. Charm City Live Music presents For the Love of… Rapture — an intimate live celebration of the 40th anniversary of Anita Baker’s iconic 1986 album Rapture — on Friday, November 14, 2026 at 7:00 PM (doors 6:00 PM) at Papillon’s Cocoon, 10 North Calvert Street, Suite 105, Baltimore, MD 21202.
Baltimore vocalist and Charm City Live Music founder LuzCelenia, joined by her band Frequency, performs the album in its entirety across two live sets — plus a curated selection of songs connected to its influence and musical legacy. Known for documenting Baltimore’s live music scene, LuzCelenia steps from behind the camera onto the stage for the inaugural installment of the For the Love of Live Music series, weaving music and storytelling into a love letter to the songs that carried us through falling in love, making love, losing love and finding our way back. This is grown-folks R&B in an intentionally intimate setting — only 50 seats in the room. Every guest receives a commemorative gift, and premium guests get reserved seating, a For the Love of Live Music T-shirt, a signed copy of one of LuzCelenia’s books, and more.
HISTORY: Anita Baker’s Rapture (1986) made her a legend — home to “Sweet Love,” which won the Grammy for Best R&B Song, and “Caught Up in the Rapture.” The album helped define the quiet storm sound and remains, four decades later, the soundtrack for love and longing.
