Ruben Studdard’s Velvet Voice Takes Over Blues Alley for a Six-Show Weekend Residency

D.C., the Velvet Teddy Bear is coming home for the weekend. Ruben Studdard takes over Blues Alley — 1073 Wisconsin Ave NW, the nation’s oldest continuing jazz supper club — for a six-show residency: Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 (7:00 PM and 9:30 PM each night), plus Sunday, November 22 (5:30 PM and 8:00 PM).

Since winning American Idol, Ruben Studdard has built one of R&B’s most respected careers on the strength of a voice that earned him his nickname — warm, rich, and unmistakable. He’s currently celebrating the music of his hero Luther Vandross with his Ruben Sings Luther material, which means these intimate Blues Alley sets will be stacked with the kind of classic soul singing that fills a room and stops time.

Six shows, one legendary club, zero bad seats — pick your night and settle in for an evening of grown-folks R&B at its finest. Tickets are on sale now.
