Delaware Early Voting Stays Strong as Hours Change Starting Wednesday
Written by Kiss Media on 28 October 2026
Delaware’s early voting period is moving into its final stretch, and turnout remains strong with Election Day less than a week away.
Starting today, Wednesday, October 28, early voting sites across the state shift to reduced hours: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Sunday, November 1, the last day of early voting. Sites had been open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. since last Thursday. There will be no voting on Monday, November 2.
Sussex County continues to lead the way, with 38,672 early voters already casting ballots — more than double the roughly 18,000 votes cast in the 2022 midterm election, and comparing well to the 63,000 cast during the 2024 presidential and gubernatorial cycle.
Including absentee ballots, 92,300 votes had already been received by the Department of Elections as of 3:13 p.m. Tuesday — 11.3 percent of Delaware’s 809,886 registered voters.
Delaware voters casting an early ballot do not go to their usual Election Day polling place. Instead, they may use any early voting site in their county of residence. Voters should bring an accepted form of identification, though a photo ID is not required.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, when regular polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Absentee ballots must be received by the Department of Elections by 8 p.m. on Election Day to count.
