Dover police say 14 people are in custody after a targeted law enforcement operation swept through downtown Dover on Monday, October 13.
The operation focused on the areas of South New Street and Reed Street and South Governors Avenue and Reed Street — neighborhoods police say have seen persistent criminal activity and quality-of-life concerns despite regular patrols.
Dover police partnered with Delaware Probation and Parole, Delaware State Police, the FBI, the DEA, and the U.S. Marshals Service for the effort. Officers obtained six search warrants for properties around South Governors Avenue, and investigators say they witnessed drug dealing and trespassing at 46 South New Street.
All 14 arrests were made without incident, according to police. Two people were charged with drug dealing and conspiracy, eight with trespassing, two with trespassing, drug dealing and possession of a controlled substance, and two with trespassing and possession of a controlled substance. Police did not release the names of those arrested.
Dover police say they will continue working alongside partner agencies, residents, and business owners to address crime in the area.
