Breaking News: Jalen Hurts Out for the Season After Blood Clots Found in His Lungs

Written by on 19 October 2026

Philly fans just got the gut punch nobody saw coming. The Eagles announced Monday that franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the rest of the season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in his lungs.

The news first broke via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter, and was confirmed in a joint statement from the Eagles and Hurts’ agent, Nicole Lynn — who shared the announcement on X:

According to the statement, Hurts was initially diagnosed with what looked like a superficial clot in his calf. But further examination revealed something far more serious: a deep vein thrombosis, plus blood clots in both lungs.

Treatment for the clots is expected to take at least three months, per Rapoport — which effectively ends Hurts’ season. The statement says Hurts is clinically stable with no significant functional limitations, but he cannot take part in football activities while on blood thinner medication.

Here is the good news: the long-term outlook is strong. The Eagles and Lynn say his prognosis is very good, a full recovery is expected, and he should not suffer any long-term effects. He will stay around the team and keep conditioning while he works his way back — just no contact until he is off the blood thinners.

Losing Hurts changes everything for Philadelphia. He has been the engine of this team, and the road forward just got a whole lot tougher.

Philly, let’s keep our QB lifted up. Health is bigger than football — always. Drop your get-well messages in the comments and keep it locked to Kiss 101.7 for the latest on Jalen and the Birds. Got a request? Hit the request line at +1 302-357-9831.
