HISTORY
The Divine Nine — the nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations, beginning with Alpha Phi Alpha’s founding in 1906 — built a culture of lifelong fellowship that HBCU alumni carry everywhere, including Delaware. Alumni bingo parties have become a staple of that culture: part reunion, part day party, with the music doing half the talking. Set the game to ’80s and ’90s hip-hop and R&B — the era of Salt-N-Pepa, Boyz II Men, and the soundtracks of every cookout and homecoming — and you’ve got an afternoon that basically runs itself.
