Usher Teases a Smooth New Twist on Drake & Loe Shimmy’s “I’m Spent” — Fans Want the Remix
Written by Kiss Media on 4 November 2026

Usher just gave fans a surprise they did not see coming — and now everybody wants to know if it is actually getting a release. During an Instagram Live session on Monday, November 2, the R&B veteran previewed his own take on Drake and Loe Shimmy’s “I’m Spent,” singing along to a smoother, silkier version of the collaboration.
Usher seemed pretty pleased with the results, too. As the preview circulated across social media, he declared that somebody needs to call Loe Shimmy and Drake — a pretty clear sign he is serious about the record. According to Billboard, the remix appears to be going by the title “U Spent,” though Usher has not announced an official release date, and it remains unclear whether Drake and Loe Shimmy plan to put it out.
The original “I’m Spent” appeared on Drake’s HABIBTI album in May, and it has already marked a major career milestone for Loe Shimmy. The Florida rapper’s collaboration with Drake reached No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his first Top 40 entry. The pair also filmed an elaborate visual for the song, appearing in Iron Man-inspired costumes during Drake’s FOMO short film.
An official release would be a long time coming for Usher and Drake fans. Despite knowing each other for more than a decade, the two have never put out a formal collaboration. Drake brought Usher out during OVO Fest in 2014 and suggested music was in the works, and a rumored collaboration called “Slow Motion” eventually leaked in 2020 — but neither artist has ever included a joint record on an official project. Usher also appeared during Drake and Future’s Summer Sixteen Tour stop in Atlanta in 2016.
Timing-wise, Usher has certainly been busy. He has been performing alongside Chris Brown on their joint R&B Tour, with the next stretch kicking off November 5 in Atlanta and more shows scheduled throughout the month. His last studio album, Coming Home, arrived in 2024, and he has not confirmed whether another project is on the way — but this studio preview suggests he has been making time for new music between performances.
Whether “U Spent” becomes an official release or stays a tantalizing livestream moment, one thing is clear: the combination of Usher’s velvet vocals with Drake and Loe Shimmy’s late-night record is exactly the kind of R&B and hip-hop crossover fans live for. Now the ball is in Drake and Loe Shimmy’s court.
