Put on your white lie tee and get ready to perrear. The White Lie T-Shirt Perreo Party takes over El Maguey in Wilmington on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
Hosted by MAGUEY DELAWARE, the night is a full Latin urban party built around perreo — the dance floor culture of reggaeton. The dress code is the theme: a white lie T-shirt.
The details: El Maguey, 3320 Old Capitol Trail, Wilmington, DE 19808. Tickets start at $17.85 on Eventbrite, and sales end soon. No refunds.
History: Perreo and Reggaeton
Perreo is the dance that grew up with reggaeton. The sound traces back to Panamanian reggae en español and Jamaican dancehall, taking root in Puerto Rico in the 1990s before exploding worldwide in the 2000s when Daddy Yankee’s “Gasolina” turned the dembow rhythm into a global phenomenon. Perreo — dancing close, low and in rhythm with the beat — became as much a part of the culture as the music itself, a dance-floor language all its own.
Two decades on, reggaeton and its party culture remain one of the biggest sounds on the planet, and El Maguey has become one of Wilmington’s homes for Latin nightlife, hosting everything from live concerts to themed dance parties. Friday night keeps that energy going.
